Ceramics I students finished medium and fine shaping on their drums, and added holes. Students are now considering different surfaces they can use to finish the drums including terra sigillata, burnishing, sgrafitto, and glaze. I am so proud of the classes for persevering through cracks, asymmetry and adjustments to proportions. It took a lot of patience and practice, but they did it. Check out a sample before and after picture at right. Ask you child what was tricky in making the drums? the proportion math? the paddling? managing dryness? |
Jewelry II students took time to critique their work using the DAIJ (describe, analyze, interpret and judge) process, and then formulated artist statements for their piece in the Starbucks show. Their work will be on display at Starbucks through the end of November. Please check it out! We also took some time to play with sterling silver last week.
